These products are typically offered by insurance companies as a way to provide continuity of coverage for individuals who are transitioning out of group plans, such as when leaving a job or aging out of a parent’s health insurance plan.

Group Conversion FAQ’s
Usually, individuals become eligible for conversion coverage when they lose their group coverage due to reasons such as leaving a job, retirement, or the termination of the group policy. It’s essential to review the terms of the group policy to understand when conversion is an option and what the specific eligibility criteria are.
Usually NOT. Individuals are not typically required to take a medical exam to qualify for the individual policy. This means that pre-existing conditions or changes in health status that may have occurred since the group coverage began do not impact eligibility or premium rates.
